Catch your concerns
When distressful thoughts start swirling up in your mind, you have the option at that moment to either capture and contain them or allow them to become a continuous spiral of negativity. As Christians, we know that giving God our concerns is an instruction found in 1 Peter 5:7, where we read: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” By trusting the Lord with our troubles, the pressure of expecting ourselves or others to remedy problems is lessened or eliminated. Many of our concerns are things we think we have to fix, but ultimately, all matters lie in God’s hands.

Write it down
When thoughts are more like tangled wires where you can’t easily spot the beginning from the endpoint, sometimes it helps to start writing. Even if your page begins as a brainstorming project with random ideas splattered from edge to edge, the process of jotting down those words and seeing them in black and white will eventually help get them into more of an organized plan.

Worries can take a toll on your health, and most people usually put themselves last when it comes to priorities. Take time to de-stress by going for a walk, reading a good book, or doing an activity you enjoy, such as cooking or artwork. You can’t always control the situations of life, but you can regulate how you take care of yourself regardless of the concerns. Remember that self-care isn’t selfish but rather a necessity when managing the stresses of life. Your overall health will thank you!
