Joan Bruce, LMFT
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist
I was a stay-at-home mom to my two daughters until the youngest one left for college. Then, I decided to return to college as well. Our family had benefited from family therapy, so I wanted to help others in the way I had been helped (2 Cor 1:4). I attended Trevecca Nazarene University to work toward a degree in Marriage & Family Therapy, and I subsequently completed licensure in 2010. To further equip myself in the ministry, I trained in grief recovery, Emotion-Focused Couples therapy, Brené Brown’s Daring Way, and EMDR.
I enjoy working in a systemic way- looking at a person’s quality of relationships and how life stressors are managed. I partner with clients to define their goals, which may include seeking personal growth, finding a supportive environment to explore thoughts and emotions, enhancing coping or relationship skills, or working through challenging situations.
I have called Nashville home for most of my adult life. When I’m not spending time with my family and friends, I enjoy reading, traveling, adventuring with the grandchildren, playing bridge, and playing word games.
