Q.

What can I expect the day to look like?

A.

The schedule runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a morning and afternoon break as well as lunch time on your own of about an hour.  The learning will be conducted through brief educational videos, personal reflections, and some interactive exercises.  There will be a meaningful homework assignment following the first day which will lead into the second day’s session.

Q.

Where will the Daring Way™ intensives be offered?

A.

The Daring Way™ intensives are offered in Hendersonville, TN (a northern suburb of Nashville, TN) at the BabbCenter. Our address is 105 Music Village Blvd., Hendersonville, TN 37075. Hendersonville is conveniently located from many major cities in the surrounding area.  These are approximate drive times from Louisville (2 hours and 45 min), Birmingham (3 hours 15 min), Atlanta (4 hours 15 min), and Memphis (3 hours 30 min). If you plan on flying, Nashville International Airport is approximately a 30 min drive from the BabbCenter.

Q.

How much does the Daring Way™ intensive cost?

A.

If you early register for a Daring Way™ intensive event the cost is $300. After the early registration period, the cost is $350.

Q.

Is lodging provided in the registration fee?

A.

Lodging is not provided for the Daring Way™ intensive. However, there are many hotels nearby that you could check for availability. The most convenient is the Holiday Inn Express in Hendersonville.

Q.

I’ve read that other intensives are 4-5 days in length, why is yours 2 days?

A.

Most 4-5 day intensives are offered in a treatment facility where expenses escalate quickly with predetermined costs for lodging, meals, evening activities, and 24-hour staffing requirements. We offer our 2-day intensive in an office setting so that we can eliminate those costs to provide you the option to create an experience that fits within your budgetary requirements. This 2-day intensive is designed to bring powerful results with minimal schedule disruption.

Q.

What is your inclement weather policy?

A.

We will continue with the intensive unless local weather services have indicated the need to cancel activities. This information will communicated through the contact information you provided during registration. Every attempt will be made to shift times during the weekend to complete then intensive between Friday and Sunday. If flights are cancelled last minute or you are not comfortable with the driving conditions, your registration will be credited for the next available intensive.

Q.

Can someone attend only a portion of the Daring Way™ intensive (half-day or late)?

A.

Each section of the intensive builds upon the next, so missing any part could impact your experience.  The material is so rich with pearls of wisdom that we do not want you to miss out on any part of it.

Q.

What if I register and then cancel?

A.

Cancellations 14 or more days prior to the Daring Way™ intensive will be allowed to transfer fee to another Daring Way™ intensive at the Babb Center, less $50 transfer fee.

Cancellations less than 14 days prior to the Daring Way™ intensive start date, will be allowed to transfer to another Daring Way™ intensive at the Babb Center, less a $100 transfer fee.

Rare unexpected emergencies resulting in cancellation will receive special consideration on a case-by-case basis.

Q.

Is it advisable for two people from the same family to attend the same Daring Way™ intensive?

A.

Two members of the same family may attend the same Daring Way™ intensive and the shared experiences could be quite beneficial; however, vulnerability is a critical piece of the work and comfort in that aspect of the intensive might be the deciding factor.

Q.

What if I am in an extremely difficult time in my life, would the Daring Way™ intensive be a good place to process those difficult issues?

A.

It is advised that deep personal issues be shared and processed with an individual counselor.  If you and your therapist agree that group work would be appropriate, we would welcome your participation in the Daring Way™ intensive .

Q.

Will I be required to share with the other group participants on deep, private issues?

A.

Joan and Kay will encourage you to listen to your own wisdom about what is appropriate to share in the group.  Establishing an atmosphere of trust is a priority for the facilitators, and we will help you find a balance in allowing yourself to show up in the group, and yet not over-share deeply personal material.  Each participant decides what healthy sharing may look like for them.

Q.

When I complete this intensive would I be prepared to facilitate a Daring Way™ group at my church or in my community?

A.

No, only those trained in the Daring Way™ curriculum at national trainings would be candidates to facilitate the Daring Way™ materials.

Q.

Do I need to read Brené Brown’s books to attend?

A.

It is not required to complete any reading assignments.  You might find helpful The Gifts of Imperfection if you want a “sneak peek” at the workshop themes.  The other well known and exceptionally brilliant Brené Brown books are Daring Greatly and I Thought It Was Just Me.
